En juillet 2005, l'UNESCO inscrit sur la liste du Patrimoine Mondial le centre reconstruit du Havre par Auguste Perret. Architecte majeur du XXe siècle, véritable "poète du béton", original et novateur, l'Atelier Perret réussit le pari de s'inspirer à la fois d'une tradition classique et d'une forte volonté de modernisation pour réinventer, sur 133 hectares, une cité unique à l'architecture lisible, aérée, harmonieuse et résolument innovante.
Le centre ville du Havre est le premier ensemble urbain européen du XXe siècle inscrit au Patrimoine Mondial.
In July 2005, UNESCO added the city centre, rebuilt by Auguste Perret, to its World Heritage List. Perret was a major 20th century architect and a "poet in concrete" who was both traditionalist and innovative in his approach. He successfully rose to the challenge before him, seeking inspiration in architectural tradition and drawing on his own strong desire for modernization to reinvent a unique, open city centre that is harmonious and resolutely innovative across an area of 133 hectares. Le Havre city centre is the first 20th century urban settlement in Europe to be added to the World Heritage List.
